The hotel is in the 16th district of Paris, a select and cheerful area close to the River Seine. There is good public transport close to the hotel. Built in 1850, this is a traditional Parisian 'Haussman' style building. The lobby is open plan with the lounge and seating area. M. Murat was a famous soldier serving the Emperor Napoleon, and the decor of the public areas is in keeping with this theme. The impressive wood panelled walls, carved furniture and huge frescos portraying epic battles, capture the mood of the whole period. Rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished and equipped to a good standard. The hotel is full of charm and offers a warm atmosphere, steeped in history. Direct buses will take you to the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysées, Faubourg St Honoré, the Opera house, and the Grands Boulevards.
