There is always a warm welcome and a good glass of sherry waiting for in this pretty Andalusian town of Jerez. Locally produced are fortified wines such as Sandeman’s and Fundador brandies. Although locally bottled, you need to travel to the 'Sherry Triangle' to visit the area's vineyards. They can be pinpointed to the hills to the west of Jerez, Salanlucar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa Maria.

Around Jerez you will be invited to witness the production and bottling of the region's sherry and brandy at various 'bodegas'. Be warned that during August these bodegas are generally closed to get ready for the annual September sherry festival.

A visit to Jerez should include enjoying the showmanship of the Dancing Horses of Jerez famous for instigating this type of horse schooling made famous by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
