Las Vegas Hotels

In the sizzling 95 degree heat of the Mojave Desert and along the southern slip of the state of Nevada is Las Vegas. Home to 500,000 people, Las Vegas is a magnet to holidaymakers and business people all over the world. Known as the hotel capital of the US, the most impressive and largest hotel in the world is the immense green MGM Grand completed in 1993. As well as offering the world's best entertainment facilities, Las Vegas plays host to approximately 4000 conventions per year. Within this hubbub of showtime and hospitality, Las Vegas locals work in one of its thriving areas of industry; manufacturing for aerospace and of gaming products; conventions and tourism.

Las Vegas originally sprung up out of nowhere because of its location on a route between towns alongside a railroad track. People would stop over here to eat, drink, sleep and relax. It all started from there. Las Vegas first saw the opportunity to be huge with the building of the Hoover Dam (providing power to a dry town in the middle of the desert) and the legalization of gambling. There was no looking back for early hotel and casino owners.

Up until the 1970's, Las Vegas had a mafia profile and was a very flashy, seedy town. Nowadays, the town has shirked off this grimy, ‘neon sign’ image and is now a flourishing holiday destination for the family.

Amid Las Vegas's 85 square mile perimeters, few views are so spectacular that that of the skyline along the Strip. You'll encounter the Eiffel Tower, a giant castle, a Venetian Palace, a giant pirate ship and an overflowing volcano (to name but a few!) These showpieces belong to the Paris, Excalibur, The Venetian, Treasure Island and Mirage casino resorts respectively. It is a stunning place to hang out during the evening. Enjoy the exquisite water ballet presented by the Bellagio, take in a live band at Bally's and enjoy a gondolier's serenade as you pass by and soak up the atmosphere. If gambling is your thing, there are hundreds of casinos in Las Vegas to offer you your favourite fancy; be it poker, blackjack or craps and many more, you will not be short of choice!

Visitors to Las Vegas are amazed how many varied activities there are to keep them entertained in the town. There are a number of tours including helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon, tours of the Hoover Dam and the Red Rock Canyon. Look out also for the latest exhibitions within the art galleries around town including a Guggenheim museum. In a nutshell, whatever takes your fancy, you can guarantee that somewhere in Las Vegas, you can achieve it.
