Philadelphia Hotels

'City for Brotherly Love' is the translation of the latin word Philadelphia. A wholesome and tolerant agricultural community was the way Philadelphia started off. This easy going and tolerant nature encouraged the influx of polish, german and italian immigrants to the area in search of work. During the seventeenth century, things were taking off for the city and a strong workforce was needed for the foundations of a thriving manufacturing region. At this time many large scale construction projects were taking off, including coal mining and house and office building. Not a million miles from this early easy going, laissez faire tradition, Philadelphia is a large town with the heart of a small town.

Philadelphia rests on the south eastern edge of Pennsylvania and is the same in area as New York City with a fraction of the population. Currently just over five million people occupy the town which is famous for being the site that hosted the 'Declaration of Independence' before congress moved to its new home of Washington DC.

Visitors to Philadelphia tend to enjoy the city on foot as it is easily navigable. One of the first cities to be designed on a grid design, within the grid are five well defined areas; Washington, Rittenhouse, City, Franklin and Logan. Food is in ample supply and choice; whatever takes your fancy you will not be disappointed. Philadelphia is famous for its good hard working food in the form of thick sandwiches such as the Hoagie and the Cheesesteak! Hotel accommodation is also in ample supply, business travellers and tourists tend to stay in the Center City region which houses the Pennsylvania Conference Centre and is home to galleries, restaurants and theatres.
